St. Cloud Hotel is built.

1870

Architect: Nathaniel Bradlee. Designed in both the French Second Empire and Italianate style, it is located at 567 Tremont Street. Built for George Bigelow, it is considered the oldest existing hotel building in Boston and one of the first to offer “French flats” (all the rooms on the same floor). The building becomes the Park House, a transient hotel, in the 1940s and is converted to condominiums and artists’ studios in 1987.*
